Ingredients
- ½ tbsp butter unsalted
- 2 slices bread whole wheat
- 1 large tomato thinly sliced
- 2 slices cheddar cheese reduced fat
Optional toppings:
- slices of avocado, scrambled eggs, black pepper, Italian seasoning, fresh basil leaves
Instructions
- Wash hands with soap and water. Gently rub tomato under cold running water before cutting.
- Prepare the tomato by cutting it into thin slices
- Heat a medium-sized non-stick pan on the stove over medium heat
- Add the butter to the pan and swirl around until the butter melts
- When the butter begins to bubble, add the two slices of bread to the pan. Add one slice of cheese to each piece of bread. Add 3-4 slices of tomato to one of the bread. Cover the pan with a lid for 1-2 minutes to allow the cheese to melt
- Once the slices of bread are golden brown, combine them to make a sandwich
- Serve with a side of fruit and/or vegetables for a complete meal
