Teen Cuisine - Youth

Teen Cuisine is an evaluated curriculum aimed for 6th - 12th grade youth. Youth participants will engage in interactive activities on nutrition, physical activity, food safety, food preparation and cooking.

Eat Smart

Learn about MyPlate, practice basic cooking skills and reading recipes to prepare healthy snacks

You Are What You Eat

Learn how to read Nutrition Facts Label to make better food choices and add physical activity in each day

Power Up with Breakfast

Learn ways to eat a healthy breakfast each day and include muscle- and bone-strengthening activities into a physical activity routine

Find the Fat

Learn how to choose foods that are low in saturated fat and high in nutrients.

Watch Out for Added Sugar

Learn how to identify foods and beverages that are high in added sugar by reading its Nutrition Facts Label

Snack Attack

Learn how to choose foods that are nutrient-dense and are low in added sugars, fats and sodium.

Program Impact

I thought this series was excellent because I was able to learn and apply the different topics that were mentioned to us. I have become more active, eating more whole grains, and more fruits and vegetables. Not to mention the healthy recipes that were given were great to try out.

Enhancements

Upon completion of the Teen Cuisine class series, participants receive a Certificate of Completion, a color-changing cup, and a mechanical pencil.
